Learning at your speed

ARVOLearnARVO will roll out its new online education system, ARVOLearn, this fall. ARVOLearn will provide an easy-to-use online experience for ARVO members and others in the eye and vision science field. The new system and the expanded education offerings that will follow in 2019 and beyond will offer opportunities to increase knowledge and grow professionally.

“As a global organization, we are continuously looking for ways to expand our reach and offer education and training opportunities throughout the year,” says ARVO’s Chief Learning Officer Gayle Claman, MS, CAE. “We recognize that eye and vision scientists are busy and juggle many priorities. As a result, we are offering a new system that allows them to learn how they want, when they want and where they want.”

Specific features of the new system will

  • Offer you more content choices, ranging from brief overviews to in-depth instruction
  • Make it easier to find the content that matches your interests
  • Allow you to access content on all your devices, including tablets and smartphones
  • Let you learn at your own pace and pick up where you left off
  • Help you monitor your progress and keep a record of what you’ve achieved

The content within ARVOLearn will include self-paced training on scientific and career development topics and recorded meeting presentations. The various activities are created by and targeted to eye and vision researchers and clinician-scientists at all career stages. Users of the new system can choose from learning modules, on-demand courses derived from live events, audio recordings and ARVO Annual Meeting recorded sessions — all developed by your peers.

“We’re looking forward to growing our online education offerings to meet the changing and developing needs of y eye and vision scientists around the globe,” says Claman. “We encourage members to give us feedback on the new system, as well as ideas for topics and content they would like added to the Online Education program.” Questions and feedback are welcome at any time by emailing education@arvo.org.

ARVO members will have access to specific areas of the new ARVO Learn System. Subscriptions are also available to nonmembers.
