Use of Internet Protocol Addresses and Cookies

ARVO collects the Internet Protocol (IP) address of all computers that access our website to measure website traffic. This information is not used to determine the identity of a particular Web user except in the case of illicit activity.

Cookies, or small pieces of data stored on a user's computer by ARVO.org, are used for simplifying user login and aiding in navigation of the ARVO.org website. No personal information is stored in cookies from ARVO.org

Member Information

ARVO collects various contact and demographic information from members and perspective members in order to fulfill the requirements of ARVO membership and to provide useful and relevant member services.

From time to time, ARVO may rent member lists to select third-parties. The Association's policy requires the intended purpose be for the promotion of scientific or medical products or services or to support the development of the profession and that it does not adversely affect the individual interest of members. All requests for mailing lists are thoroughly reviewed.

By completing the Membership Application, the member agrees that the information provided is accurate to his or her best knowledge. Such information is subject to verification under the supervision of the Board of Trustees, in accordance with ARVO bylaws. Opt-out

Users of the ARVO website have the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from ARVO unless such communications are part of an established business relationship. Users may contact ARVO at opt-out@arvo.org or by phone at +1.240.221.2900. Please be prepared to provide your full name and current contact information as well as your member ID number, if applicable.

Third- party use of event registration information

ARVO may provide contact information, including email addresses, of ARVO event registrants for the sole purpose of holding the event. Event registration information provided to third-parties may only be used by such parties in the fulfillment of contractual obligations with ARVO regarding the specific event.

ARVO.org contains links to other external websites that are outside ARVO's purview. ARVO is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

Electronic commerce

Various products and services are available for purchase on ARVO.org. ARVO is committed to providing a secure e-commerce system to protect our users from theft of financial information. ARVO uses Verisign's Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate to encrypt contact and financial information during any purchase on ARVO.org. ARVO does not store complete credit card numbers and will use other purchasing information only to fulfill an order.

ARVO reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the content or materials that are posted by third parties onto this site or materials that are e-mailed by third parties to any other persons that may be archived or in any other way maintained within this site.
