This two-day virtual conference will provide early- and mid-career investigators with an opportunity to learn steps and identify skills to be successful in a career path within eye and vision science.

Presentations will include live panel chat sessions and lightning style chats from experts. Attendees will be able to interact with the speakers during question and answer periods and panel discussions, as well as during Chat with an Expert breakout sessions. Session recordings will be available to registrants after the conference.

    • Day 1 - focuses on starting your career, including tips and suggestions to create and maintain your resume/CV, fine tuning your interview skills, and creating your career development plan. The strengths and challenges of making career defining decisions, balancing personal and professional obligations and building your network will also be discussed.

    • Day 2 - dives into advancing your career through mentorship and sponsorship, developing leadership skills and addressing career transitions. Setting up and managing your lab and team as well as advocating for your science will also be discussed.

Expert Sessions
Similar to the Breakfast with an Expert workshop that takes place during the ARVO Annual Meeting, this very popular program will offer the opportunity for informal discussions in a breakout room on a wide range of topics to provide personal guidance, insight and skills to help you advance your career. Organized by the Members-in-Training Committee. The expert sessions are limited to the first 180 attendees.

Resume Review
Getting a job can be hard. Why make it harder with a flawed resume?

Advance attendees are invited to sign up for one resume review slot during the conference. This opportunity will allow for a one-on-one 15 minute review and feedback session with an ARVO member experienced in the hiring process. When registering for the conference, attendees will be able to select resume review for a position in clinical science, basic science, or industry. Registration for Resume Review closed Feb. 19. (As review time is only 15 minutes, late arrivals will be treated as no-shows). Resume Review is limited to the first 69 attendees.
