ARVO is committed to your meeting experience

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology is dedicated to creating a welcoming, inclusive and accessible environment for all meeting attendees to fully enjoy all aspects of the ARVO Annual Meeting. At the time of registration, please indicate your needs in the Accessibility Needs section of the registration form. Once your registration is complete, an ARVO staff member will be in contact to obtain additional information. If you have already registered and find yourself in need of assistance, please contact arvo@arvo.org.

We ask that all requests for accommodations be made as early as possible, and well in advance of the Annual Meeting so that we may best meet your needs. During the meeting, please visit Meeting Management with your questions and concerns. We will meet onsite requests to the best of our ability, but resources may be limited

The 2019 ARVO Annual Meeting will take place April 28 – May 2 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, Vancouver, BC.

Mobility:

ARVO provides motorized scooters to be used in the Vancouver Convention Centre. Scooters must be requested in advance of the Annual Meeting. Scooters may be picked up in the morning at Meeting Management and must be returned prior to leaving the building. ARVO strives to have the maximum amount of seating available in common areas for us of all attendees. All hotels in the ARVO block are within walking distance. If transportation assistance is required, please contact arvomeetings@arvo.org

Housing

When booking your hotel room online please indicate the request for an accessible room by checking the “Handicap Accessible” box.  Please also note your specific needs in the “Requests” box so we can ensure the hotel can accommodate your needs. If you have any additional questions regarding an accommodation at your hotel, please contact arvohousing@orchid.events.

Hearing and Vision Impairment:

ARVO recognizes needs vary and will work to meet your individual needs to the best of our ability. To better serve you, please indicate your needs with your registration and an ARVO staff member will be in contact to discuss your needs and how ARVO is able to assist.

Aides or Personal Care Assistants:

If you require the assistance of an aide or personal care assistant, ARVO will arrange complimentary registration for them. Please contact arvo@arvo.org to register your aide or personal care assistant.

Service Animals:

Certified guide/service animals are welcome in the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Personal Consideration Rooms

There are rooms reserved for nursing mothers, prayer and meditation, etc. Please visit Meeting Management where you may request a key—staff will direct you to where the room is located.

Food Availability, Restrictions and Allergies

There are several food concession locations in the Vancouver Convention Centre and many restaurants within walking distance. Vancouver is a “foodie” town and there is something everyone. There are several vegan/vegetarian, gluten free, and kosher options in the downtown Vancouver area. If you are attending events with meals during the Meeting and need accommodation of a special diet, please contact arvomeetings@arvo.org
