Abstracts and SIGs

Abstract and SIG submissions for the 2023 Annual Meeting closed Jan. 6.

The Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) called for high-quality abstracts describing original, unpublished* research results. Abstract submissions must contain a clear statement of hypothesis, an explanation of methods, and a report of data that unequivocally test the hypothesis and a brief discussion of their implications. Studies should use newer technologies when possible and include original results that will advance the field. Abstracts should be free of spelling and grammatical errors.

ARVO membership for 2023 is required to submit an abstract. Membership dues are non-refundable and non-transferable, and do not include registration fees for meetings. To submit an abstract for the 2023 Annual Meeting, membership application and payment needed to be received by ARVO:

*Abstracts must be work that has not been submitted for formal publication or to a preprint server before the abstract submission deadline. After the Jan. 6 abstract submission deadline, an author is at liberty to submit their abstract to a journal for formal publication or to a preprint server.

Important information about the 2023 Annual Meeting

The 2023 ARVO Annual Meeting is scheduled to be in-person only and will not have a virtual component.
Note: For abstract submissions, the presentation type option "on-demand" is for those who know for sure they will be unable to travel and cannot present at the Annual Meeting. There will be no live virtual presentations in the 2023 Annual Meeting program.

Special Interest Group (SIG) Sessions

NEW THIS YEAR: SIGs will not be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. All accepted SIGs will be held virtually and programmed throughout the year.
