Abstracts and SIGs


The submission deadline was Jan. 7 (11:59pm ET).

The Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) is seeking high-quality abstracts describing original, unpublished* research results. Abstract submissions must contain a clear statement of hypothesis, an explanation of methods, and a report of data that unequivocally test the hypothesis and a brief discussion of their implications. Studies should use newer technologies when possible and include original results that will advance the field. Abstracts should be free of spelling and grammatical errors.

ARVO membership for 2022 is required to submit an abstract. Membership dues are non-refundable and non-transferable, and do not include registration fees for meetings. To submit an abstract for the 2022 Annual Meeting, membership application and payment must be received by ARVO:


Important information for 2022 Annual Meeting

The 2022 Annual Meeting will be hosted May 1-4 in Denver, Colo., and virtually May 11-12 (includes access to all sessions).

During abstract submission, ARVO members will be asked to indicate whether they currently plan to present in person in Denver, Colo., or virtually. This answer is not binding and will not impact the abstract review or sessioning process. However, a final decision will be required by March 31.

Special Interest Group (SIG) Sessions

All SIGs will be held during the virtual portion of the meeting, May 11-12.

*Abstracts must be work that has not been submitted for formal publication or to a preprint server before the abstract submission deadline. After the Jan. 7 abstract submission deadline, an author is at liberty to submit their abstract to a journal for formal publication or to a preprint server.
