David C. Beebe, PhD, FARVO, IOVS editor-in-chief, passed away Friday, March 27, in his home from complications associated with ALS. Dr. Beebe was the Janet and Bernard Becker Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and professor of Cell Biology and Physiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Dr. Beebe, whose term as  Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science (IOVS)  editor-in-chief began in 2013, served the journal for more than 15 years. He was a member of  the IOVS  Editorial Board starting in 1998, and was an associate editor in 2008, under Editor-in-Chief Paul Kaufman, MD.  

He was to receive the 2015 Joanne G. Angle Award for more than 20 years of outstanding service to ARVO, including serving as president, 2000 - 2001. The award will be accepted by his wife, Betsy, during the General Business Meeting on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:15am in Mile High Ballroom 1AB during the Annual Meeting in Denver. A memorial tribute will follow the awards presentation.
